Inferact Co-Signs Open Letter on Open Weights and American AI Leadership

Inferact is proud to co-sign Open Weights and American AI Leadership, a joint letter urging U.S. policymakers not to impose premature restrictions on open-weight AI models. First published on July 24, 2026, the letter brings together a broad coalition of AI labs, hardware vendors, cloud providers, developer platforms, security companies, open-source foundations, and investors.

We were founded to grow vLLM into the world’s leading open-source inference engine, making open-weight AI faster, cheaper, and accessible across hardware and clouds so intelligence can be on tap for everyone.

Open weights are what make that mission possible. When a model’s weights can be downloaded, inspected, and run anywhere, the whole community can optimize how it is served — on every accelerator, in every cloud, and on premises. Every model architecture and hardware backend that lands in vLLM is built on that openness, and the improvements flow back to everyone.
